Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Data Quality Analyst to join the Data Quality and Innovation Team within North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) on a 12-month fixed-term basis.

As part of a friendly and forward-thinking team, you will help to drive improvements in the accuracy, completeness and reliability of our data across the organisation. Your work will play a vital role in supporting operational performance, digital transformation, and patient-centred care.

This role will suit a motivated analyst with strong attention to detail, a logical mindset, and a passion for improving data quality and insight within a fast-paced NHS environment.

Should you be successful at interview stage successful candidates will receive a conditional offer of employment, this will be subject to the NHS Employment Checks Standards.

A valid right to work and identity check; Reference checks – this will cover a minimum of a three year period and will include a request for the number of days and occasions of sickness absence covering a minimum two year period. In line with equality legislation, the earliest point at which we will ask health related questions is when an offer of employment has been made. Absences related to disability may be excluded from these considerations; consideration would be given as to what would be a reasonable attendance level, based on the information available. Absences related to pregnancy, maternity and/or gender reassignment will be excluded from these considerations. Detailed information on the NHS Employment Checks Standards is available on the NHS Employers website; search 'employment checks'. DBS Checks – if the post is subject to DBS disclosure, a charge will be made for this disclosure. Occupational Health – you will require satisfactory medical clearance. Whilst not a condition of employment, all staff are encouraged to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as this remains the best line of defence against COVID-19.

Responsibilities
  • Produce and maintain accurate, timely data quality reports and dashboards.
  • Support regular data quality audits and provide clear feedback to operational teams.
  • Identify root causes of data quality issues and support teams to implement sustainable solutions.
  • Extract and analyse data using SQL and Power BI, supporting operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Informatics, Digital Innovation and Operations to ensure high-quality data capture and use.
  • Promote and support compliance with national data standards and Information Governance principle.
Qualifications

You will be educated to degree level (or equivalent experience) and have demonstrable analytical skills, including proficiency in SQL and Microsoft Excel, and experience of Power BI report development. You'll be confident working independently, managing competing priorities, and communicating effectively with colleagues at all levels. Experience within the NHS or another healthcare setting is desirable but not essential – what's most important is your curiosity, attention to detail and commitment to improving data quality to support better care.

Benefits

We also offer a range of excellent benefits including a pension scheme, up to 33 days Annual leave (exclusive of bank holidays), training and development opportunities, access to NHS discounts, Car Lease Scheme, Cycle to Work Scheme, NHS Mortgages and Childcare Vouchers.
