Job Description:

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and Implement Data Protection Strategy: Create and maintain data protection policies and procedures.
  2. Ensure Compliance: Monitor compliance with GDPR, FOI, and other relevant data protection laws.
  3. Data Processing Activities: Oversee data processing activities ensuring legal compliance.
  4. Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) & Audits: Conduct DPIAs and audits, addressing issues as they arise.
  5. Training and Awareness: Provide training and guidance to staff on data protection issues.
  6. Point of Contact: Serve as the liaison between the institution and Supervisory Authorities.
  7. Incident Management: Manage data protection incidents and breaches, ensuring timely reporting and resolution.
  8. Advisory Role: Advise on data protection issues, privacy risks, and mitigation strategies.
  9. Stay Updated: Keep abreast of changes in data protection laws and regulations.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in data protection and legal compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of DPA18 and GDPR.
  • Ability to perform audits and DPIAs following prescribed procedures.
  • Knowledge of compliance with confidentiality regulations and protocols.

Qualifications:

  • GCSE in Maths and English - Grade 5 or above, or equivalent.
  • Qualification at Level 3 or above.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.

  • Ability to devise, maintain, and review processes and procedures within standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure, in a team, and produce high-quality work.
  • Ability to coordinate activities and maintain confidentiality with stakeholders.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with patience.
