Job summary

Lipson Lloyd-Jones and a London-based education provider seek a dedicated Data Protection Officer for GDPR compliance on a six-month FTC basis. You will manage risk, ensure information governance, advise across the University and its Group, and promote best practices in data protection.

Qualifications

Job description

THE ORGANISATION

A London based education provider.

THE ROLE

A fantastic opportunity to join the University's legal team on a 6 month FTC basis.

You will be responsible for managing risk and legal compliance associated with data protection and freedom of information obligations, including the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR"), liaising closely with key stakeholders across the whole University and its Group to establish best practice.

You will be expected to act as the University's Data Protection Officer for GDPR purposes.

The post-holder will be part of an enterprising civic university and its Group addressing real world challenges.

The successful applicant will report to the University Solicitor and Head of Legal Services and will be a member of the Legal team.

They will be expected to manage risk and drive information legal compliance across the University and the Group.

They will also be expected to contribute in creating a culture of continuous improvement by setting and promoting best practice in information legal compliance and increasing awareness of changing legislation.

This role also includes responsibility for developing and delivering training to colleagues and a crucial aspect is to form collaborative working relationships with the senior points of contact in the seven schools, student services, the academic registry, the ICT function and contacts within the Group.

THE CANDIDATE

A graduate with at least 3 years' experience of information legal compliance, principles and best practice and good understanding of GDPR.

Sufficient experience, gravitas and understanding of GDPR to undertake the Data Protection Officer role under GDPR.

Experience of developing and establishing compliance processes and standards and the ability to drive compliance with GDPR.

A natural team-player and communicator with a demonstrable record of forming flexible, collaborative professional relationships at all levels, including senior levels.

Highly organised and able to deliver work of a consistently high quality.

Excellent written and spoken English and the ability to draft concise correspondence.

As a professional position, the Executive will be relying on professional advice and information supplied by the post-holder and will be basing important decisions upon it. To establish their credibility, it is essential for the post-holder to have good professional judgement, accuracy and a painstaking eye for detail.
