Job summary

East Durham College is inviting applications for a part-time role based at the Peterlee/Houghall Campus. The role focuses on delivering an ambitious curriculum while ensuring compliance with UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and related information governance requirements.

Candidates should have a degree level qualification or equivalent experience, plus a recognised data protection qualification. Ongoing CPD and access to staff benefits are provided within a supportive educational environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver an ambitious curriculum with impartial advice, oversight and assurance to support compliance with UK GDPR and related laws.
• Monitor and assure compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, PECR, FOI, EIR and ICO guidance.
• Support equality, safeguarding and broader education sector requirements as part of the role.

Your role will be to deliver an ambitious curriculum to all by providing impartial advice, oversight, monitoring and assurance to support compliance with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, PECR, Freedom of Information legislation, Environmental Information Regulations, ICO guidance and relevant education sector requirements

• Degree level qualification or equivalent professional experience.
• Recognised data protection, privacy or information governance qualification, such as GDPR
• Evidence of continuing professional development in data protection, information governance or a related field.
• GCSE level standard education or equivalent (maths & English)
