We are working with a leading retailer based in the Midlands who are seeking a Data Protection Manager to lead the business on everything data protection related, ensuring that global data protection laws are complied with. You will lead a small team of two Data Protection Advisors and work closely with different areas of the business.

The role:

• Support the business with day-to-day data privacy issues
• Make sure we comply with data protection laws worldwide
• Advise on privacy aspects of company acquisitions
• Keep up with new privacy laws and technologies
• Help senior management respond to regulatory requests
• Make data protection easy to understand – no tech jargon
• Advise on supplier checks and customer privacy rights
• Review and improve policies, including areas like AI
• Help integrate new businesses into our group smoothly
• Lead third-party data reviews
• Support your team’s growth and performance

Skills required:

• At least 5 years' experience in a data protection role (retail, finance, or similar sectors a plus)
• Strong team player with great relationship-building skills
• Deep understanding of UK GDPR, PECR, and EU privacy laws
• Analytical and creative problem-solver
• Reliable with strong attention to detail
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Works well under pressure and meets deadlines
• CIPP/E certification is a bonus
