My client based in London is seeking a Data Protection Manager / Consultant to join their team for a permanent role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Protection & Privacy:
- Oversee data protection and privacy rules.
- Identify, assess, and manage data and cyber risks.
- Report data breaches and ensure compliance with the ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office).
- General Responsibilities:
- Ensure data protection and privacy rules are followed.
- Manage operational risks and ensure they are identified and controlled.
- Oversee relationships with third-party suppliers and ensure they meet standards.
- Follow data governance policies, especially for sensitive or personal data.
- Specific Responsibilities:
- Advise senior management and staff on data protection laws (like GDPR).
- Monitor compliance with data protection laws, conduct audits, and train staff.
- Be the main contact for the ICO and individuals whose data is processed.
- Keep records to prove compliance with data protection laws.
- Support teams to ensure data policies are followed and monitor their effectiveness.
- Oversee cyber risks related to personal data.
- Manage relationships with the ICO and handle regulatory notifications.
- Identify, assess, and manage privacy risks.
- Develop and maintain policies like data retention, privacy notices, and accountability frameworks.
- Analyse and report on privacy risks to senior management.
- Monitor processes for data protection, including handling data breaches and access requests.
- Advise senior leaders and the board on improvements needed to meet compliance.
Experience / Skills Required
- Strong knowledge of data privacy laws, including GDPR.
- Ability to handle many tasks at once and prioritise effectively.
- A dedicated attitude and take pride in delivering excellent work.
- Strong communication skills to explain complex regulations clearly.
- Confidence to work with senior leaders and influence decisions.
