Job summary

Plus Dane is seeking a Data Protection Business Partner to translate legislation into clear guidance and support colleagues in protecting customer and colleague information. You’ll coordinate data protection processes, maintain records, and help build a culture of data protection awareness across Merseyside and Cheshire.

You will join a purpose-led organisation with a collaborative team, providing practical advice on data rights, DPIAs and information sharing while contributing to ongoing

Qualifications

  • Strong working knowledge of UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and ICO guidance.
  • Experience coordinating subject access requests, rights requests and data breaches.
  • Experience advising on DPIAs, data sharing, privacy consent and records of processing activity.
  • Ability to assess risk and know when to escalate for specialist advice.
  • Excellent communication and ability to work with colleagues at all levels.
  • Good attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Collaborative and improvement-focused, aligned with Plus Dane values.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Data Protection Framework, policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate data subject rights requests (access, rectification, erasure, objection).
  • Manage, investigate and report personal data breaches, identifying learnings.
  • Advise on DPIAs, information sharing and data handling best practices.
  • Maintain records and registers (ROPA, DPIA, breach, information sharing).
  • Support training and awareness activities on data protection.
  • Monitor changes in data protection legislation to ensure compliance.

About the Role:

As our Data Protection Business Partner, you’ll play a key role in helping Plus Dane manage information securely, confidently and in line with legal requirements. You’ll support our data protection framework, provide practical advice to colleagues across the business, co-ordinate statutory requests, maintain key registers and help build a strong culture of data protection awareness.

What you’ll be doing
  • Support the development and implementation of our Data Protection Framework, policies and procedures
  • Co-ordinate data subject rights requests, including access, rectification, erasure and objection requests
  • Support the management, investigation and reporting of personal data breaches, helping identify learning and improvements
  • Advise colleagues on Data Protection Impact Assessments, information sharing and good data handling practice
  • Maintain key records and statutory registers, including ROPA, DPIA, breach and information sharing registers
  • Support training, guidance and awareness activity so colleagues understand and apply their data protection responsibilities
  • Horizon scan for changes in data protection, information rights and related legislation, helping Plus Dane stay compliant and prepared
What You’ll Bring
  • A strong working knowledge of UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and relevant ICO guidance
  • Practical experience of co-ordinating subject access requests, rights requests and personal data breaches
  • Experience supporting or advising on DPIAs, data sharing, privacy consent and records of processing activity
  • The ability to assess risk, use sound judgement and know when to escalate for specialist advice
  • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to work constructively with colleagues at all levels
  • Good attention to detail, strong organisation skills and the ability to manage a varied workload with deadlines
  • A collaborative, improvement-focused approach and a commitment to Plus Dane’s values

You’ll join a purpose-led organisation where your expertise will have visible impact, helping protect the information of more than 30,000 customers and colleagues across Merseyside and Cheshire. You’ll work in a broad, regulated environment, influence good practice and continue to grow your expertise within a supportive team.

This role will be based in Merseyside and/or Cheshire, with flexibility to work in a way that supports both the needs of the role and the business.

You’ll be generously rewarded with a competitive salary and a great benefits package, including 35 days’ annual leave, plus bank holidays. This includes a 3-day Christmas closedown between Christmas and New Year and you have the option to buy up to 5 extra days annually.
