Role Objectives:

The WEP Clinical Data Privacy Paralegal supports the Group Head of Legal and DPO, Assistant Legal Counsel, internal stakeholders, and global affiliates - including subsidiaries in the UK, US, Ireland, and Portugal - on a range of data privacy and compliance matters, with opportunities for increased responsibility as the company grows.

What You'll Do:
  • Provide support and take the lead on matters related to global data privacy and protection regulations, including GDPR, PECR, the e-Privacy Directive, the UK Data Protection Act 2018, and the evolving EU AI Act.
  • Prepare, review, and negotiate GDPR-related documentation, ensuring alignment with applicable laws and internal policies, with a strong focus on legal compliance.
  • Assist and advise business stakeholders on data protection matters; review documents, presentations, and draft communications with third parties in a clear and effective manner.
  • Conduct legal research, monitor legislative developments, and assist with proofreading and legal document preparation.
  • Proactively assess and improve internal processes, supporting the development and implementation of privacy policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Support the DPO in reviewing incident reports to identify, investigate, and help mitigate potential privacy breaches.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives as needed.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the business and its service lines to ensure ongoing compliance with global data privacy laws and regulations.
What You'll Need:
  • Qualified paralegal or NQ with a law degree or equivalent experience, ideally with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in data privacy, data security, and related legal principles.
  • Previous experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences sector is strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of GDPR, UK GDPR, PECR, and the Data Protection Act 2018; familiarity with the EU AI Act and its potential implications is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience drafting and reviewing GDPR-related documentation, with excellent attention to detail and due diligence skills.
  • Confident communicator with strong analytical and organizational abilities; capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment and collaborating effectively across teams.
  • Fluent in written and verbal commercial English; additional language skills or international legal experience would be an advantage.
  • Proactive mindset with a willingness to grow expertise in AI and data privacy within the pharmaceutical space.
