Job summary

South Western Railway (SWR) is seeking a Data Privacy Support role to provide case and technical support to the Data Privacy and Evidence Gatherer teams, ensuring timely information provision. You will work with key internal and external stakeholders to meet data needs and gain experience in all areas covered.

The role involves DSAR management, searches across data repositories, redaction, and regular data-protection reporting, with travel to Wimbledon as required and opportunities to contribute

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of Data Protection regulations.
• Conversant with Windows, Excel and Microsoft Office packages.
• Able to build strong working relationships across the business and with external stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel to Wimbledon on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

• Manage internal and external DSARs from receipt to completion, ensuring all personal data emails, documents, CCTV footage and other records are identified, reviewed, redacted and disclosed in full compliance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
• Conduct searches and retrieval of personal data across email systems, digital records and other data repositories.
• Perform redaction and data-minimisation with audit trail.
• Produce four-weekly data-protection reports for the Directorate.
• Support process improvement and compliance development.
• Handle CCTV-related personal data requests with lawful basis and proper redaction.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding personal-data requests.
• Assist with data-quality and availability issues including CCTV and retention requirements.
• Collaborate with Evidence Gatherers to ensure compliant handling of evidentiary material.
• Maintain competency in data-protection systems and tools.
• Escalate complex or high-risk cases to senior data protection colleagues.
