Funding Circle in London is seeking a senior Data Platform leader to steer engineering of our data platform as we migrate to Snowflake and a Data as a Product model.

You will drive architecture, standards and partner with data teams to enable scalable, secure data delivery. The role offers a hybrid working pattern with two days in the London office and a competitive salary plus benefits.

Qualifikationen

• 8+ years in Data & Analytics with architectural leadership.
• Deep Snowflake knowledge including RBAC and data contracts.
• Advanced SQL and Python with enterprise-grade dbt modeling.
• Experience designing end-to-end data pipelines (batch, streaming).
• Understanding of data security and governance, including PII handling.
• Infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD skills.
• Ability to document design choices and communicate risks to stakeholders.

Aufgaben

• Lead the technical direction of the Data Platform, turning target architecture into a sequenced engineering plan.
• Own Snowflake infrastructure, RBAC, ingestion patterns, orchestration (Airflow), CI/CD, observability and cost controls.
• Make and record technical decisions; run the decision-document process and escalate cross-domain decisions.
• Grow the team: mentor engineers, share knowledge, and foster a fast, deep code-review culture.
• Make it easy for data teams, analysts and AI agents to build on the platform; define reusable patterns.
• Lead the Athena → Snowflake migration: source landing, reconciliation and cutover evidence, decommissioning legacy platform.
• Own operational excellence with on-call, alert quality, incident follow-ups and disaster recovery.
• Manage vendor relationships, support cases, escalations and roadmap input.
• Set and evolve standards for AI-assisted engineering and safe use of tools like Claude and Copilot.
• Collaborate with Principal Engineer to translate cross-domain architecture into platform plan and delivery.
