Data Platform Engineering Manager

The role

We are looking for a Data Platform Engineering Manager to join our Data Platform Engineering team which sits under Tech and Data.

The role includes:

• Team Leadership & Management: Lead, manage, and mentor a team of data platform engineers, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive culture. Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and performance management. Set goals and provide feedback.
• Delivery Management: Oversee project planning, execution, and delivery within the data platform roadmap. Manage backlog, prioritize tasks, and track KPIs for platform health and team performance.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Management: Build relationships with stakeholders, understand their needs, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Engineer Development & Mentoring: Invest in team members' career development through coaching and mentoring. Foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.

What we’re looking for:

• Proven experience managing high-performing data engineering teams in a product-driven environment.
• Track record of mentoring engineers and fostering technical excellence.
• Experience in project delivery, planning, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Understanding of modern data platform architectures (data warehousing, data lakehouse, ETL/ELT, data governance).
• Experience in shaping data platform strategy and innovation.
• Proactive in improving platform reliability, scalability, and performance.
