Job summary

Harnham - Data & Analytics Recruitment in London is seeking a Data Platform Architect to shape a modern, cloud-based data platform and lead data engineering initiatives. The role blends hands-on technical work with architecture leadership across governance and security teams.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in data platform architecture, modern data stacks, and DataOps, with strong stakeholder communication. Hybrid work pattern with 3 days on site is offered.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in data platform architecture and cloud-native data environments.
• Excellent understanding of modern data stack technologies.
• Expertise with Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, or similar technologies.
• Experience designing data integration patterns and scalable data solutions.
• Knowledge of data governance, security, privacy, and compliance principles.
• Strong understanding of DataOps, CI/CD, testing, and automation practices.
• Experience supporting Data Engineering teams with technical leadership.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the architecture of a modern cloud-based data platform.
• Provide technical leadership across data platform and engineering teams.

• Support the implementation of architectural patterns and standards.
• Champion DataOps practices including CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and automation.

This is an opportunity for a Data Platform Architect to play a central role in shaping the future of an enterprise data platform. You'll combine hands-on technical expertise with strategic architecture leadership, helping to deliver a scalable, secure, and AI-ready data environment.

The Role

• Define and evolve the architecture of a modern cloud-based data platform
