Job summary

Somerset Council is seeking a Data and Business Support Officer to provide data, insight and business support for the Affordable Housing Service. You will manage housing data and performance information, produce analysis and reports, and coordinate processes to support projects and service priorities.

You will work with colleagues and external partners to ensure information is accurate and accessible, helping secure investment and monitor affordable housing delivery across Somerset.

Qualifications

• Experience of analysing and managing data, with the ability to present information clearly and accurately.
• Confidence using databases, spreadsheets and reporting tools, including Power BI or similar systems.
• Experience providing business or administrative support within a busy team environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and partners.
• A proactive approach to improving systems, processes and ways of working.
• An understanding of data protection, information governance and the handling of sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain data systems, dashboards and reports that support affordable housing delivery, performance monitoring and decision-making.
• Produce analysis, reports and market intelligence to inform planning, investment opportunities and service priorities.
• Provide business and administrative support to the Affordable Housing Service, helping coordinate team activities, projects, meetings and service processes.
• Work with colleagues and partners to gather, validate and interpret information, building a strong evidence base for affordable housing delivery.
• Support strategic projects, performance reporting, statutory returns and communications activity.
• Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and ways of working, helping the team work more efficiently and effectively.
