Job summary

Roche is seeking a Data Modeling Expert for its Computational Sciences Center of Excellence in Welwyn. You will lead data modeling, semantics, and standards to ensure data are FAIR, high-quality, and usable by scientists, AI tools, and algorithms across REDs.

You will collaborate closely with the Data Connectivity team to drive data governance and AI-ready data strategies, contributing to information architecture and data quality tracking across global research efforts.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in a scientific or technical field.
• Experienced in Data Governance, Data Standards, Data Modeling, Ontology Development, or related fields.
• Proficient in one or more critical scientific or data domains and able to lead initiatives based on that knowledge.
• Exceptional communicator with strong networking capabilities to lead in a matrixed organization.
• Experience in a Research & Development organization with deep understanding of its processes and data handling activities.

Responsibilities

• Act as a subject matter expert on data modeling, ontologies, semantics, and standards; interface with stakeholders and informatics/engineering colleagues.
• Translate complex scientific requirements into draft data models for the wider team.
• Contribute to and sometimes drive development of data models, standards, and information architecture.
• Contribute to and drive strategies to ensure pan-RED Roche data is ready for AI/ML, and participate in AI data policy discussions.
• Contribute to and lead data quality tracking strategies to measure annotation and data quality.
• Foster a OneRoche data-centric mindset, advocating for data standards, governance, and FAIR principles.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of Data Governance strategies as it relates to data standards.
