Job summary

Scrumconnect Consulting in London is seeking an experienced Data / MI Business Analyst to join our team and work closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and data specialists.

You will translate business and reporting needs into clear requirements, investigate existing reports, datasets and data processes, identify data quality issues, and define KPIs, metrics, and specifications to support MI and dashboard solutions. Active SC Clearance is mandatory for this role.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Technical Business Analyst or MI Business Analyst.
• Strong SQL skills with data investigation and validation.
• Experience with Agile delivery and writing user stories.
• Experience with BI tools and data platforms like Power BI, Azure Synapse.
• Security clearance: Active SC Clearance mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Work with business stakeholders to understand and define MI, reporting, and analytical requirements.
• Review and investigate existing reports, dashboards, datasets, and data processes to understand capabilities, limitations, and gaps.
• Use SQL and other analytical techniques to investigate data quality issues, discrepancies, trends, and anomalies.
• Define and document KPIs, metrics, business definitions, calculation logic, rules, assumptions, and data requirements.
• Investigate discrepancies between legacy systems, datasets, and reports with technical teams to identify root causes and resolutions.
• Translate business and analytical needs into clear business requirements, technical requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and reporting/dashboard specifications.
• Assess data availability and identify data gaps, defining requirements to address them.
• Collaborate with MI Developers, Data Analysts, Data Engineers, and Data Architects to refine requirements and validate solutions.
• Produce high-quality documentation including requirements, metric definitions, data mappings, investigation findings, data quality assessments, and recommendations.
• Active SC Clearance is mandatory for this role.

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Data / MI Business Analyst to join our team and work closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and data specialists.

In this role, you will translate business and reporting needs into clear, well-defined requirements. You will investigate existing reports, datasets, and data processes, identify data quality issues and gaps, and define the KPIs, metrics, and specifications required to support effective MI and dashboard solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with business stakeholders to understand and define MI, reporting, and analytical requirements , including the underlying business needs and desired outcomes.

• Proven experience working as a Technical Business Analyst, Data Business Analyst, MI Business Analyst, or similar role .
  
• Strong experience working with data, MI, reporting, or analytics teams .
  
• Strong SQL skills with experience in data investigation, analysis, and validation.
  
• Experience defining and documenting KPIs, metrics, business rules, and calculation logic .
  
• Good understanding of data structures, relationships, data lineage, and data quality .
  
• Experience analysing complex datasets and investigating data and reporting discrepancies .
  
• Ability to translate business requirements into clear technical and analytical requirements .
  
• Experience working within Agile delivery environments , including writing user stories and acceptance criteria.
  
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills .
  
• Ability to explain complex data and technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders .
  
• Experience with Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse , or other enterprise data platforms.
  
• Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL , or similar relational databases.
  
• Knowledge of enterprise data models, data governance, and data quality frameworks .
  
• Experience working within large-scale public sector or complex enterprise environments .
