Data Manager

Salary: £45,000 - £65,000

The Insurance, Wealth and Retirement (IWR) business is excited to be investing in data to enhance its core capabilities, ways of operating, and modernisation of technology. As part of this, we are redefining our data foundations with exciting opportunities for experienced Data Managers to join us and deliver changes to the way we understand our data, allowing us to realise more business value.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Managers collaborate with a variety of teams to ensure data discoverability, accessibility and quality are improved to help improve the efficiency and growth of data capability in Aviva IWR.

  1. Manage data holistically through activities such as generating and improving metadata, building data quality rules, implementing data access rules, working with data models and cataloguing data artefacts.
  2. Identify and resolve data-related issues, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of data products, while monitoring and reporting on data management activities using metrics to understand the success of initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
  3. Collaborate with Data Product Owners to define and prioritise data requirements, ensuring they align with business goals and objectives.
  4. Support other data professionals in their knowledge of data management by promoting the team through a culture of inclusion and collaboration.
  5. Drive the adoption of innovative data management tools and technologies to improve data capabilities and support ambitious business growth.

Skills & Experience:

  1. Work experience in data roles such as data product management, data analysis, data modelling or data science, preferably in a large-scale and complex data environment. Possessing a degree in a data-related subject area and/or professional data qualifications, such as CDMP, is beneficial.
  2. Excellent collaboration and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work closely with technical data professionals, business users, and senior leaders, across different functions and domains.
  3. Firsthand experience of agile methodologies and tools, such as Scrum, Kanban, Jira, and Confluence.
  4. Outstanding problem-solving skills and evidence of making data-driven decisions.
  5. Strong leadership and advocacy skills with a focus on encouraging a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

What you’ll get for this role:

  1. Starting salary between £45,000 - £65,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
  2. Bonus opportunity - 10% of annual salary. Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
  3. Generous pension scheme - Aviva will contribute up to 14%, depending on what you put in.
  4. 29 days holiday plus bank holidays, and you can choose to buy or sell up to 5 days.
