The job involves working within a clinical team caring for patients with chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML). The post has two distinct responsibilities. The first is to maintain an established database consisting of clinical and laboratory data from patients with CML who are cared for in the Haematology Department at the Hammersmith Hospital. This part of the position will involve collecting and entering patient data from medical records. Information is currently stored in an Access database, and used for data analysis but the database will soon move to RedCap. The post holder will be responsible for collating the results and reporting these on a regular basis to ensure continuing progress. We estimate that this role will comprise approximately 50% of the post-holder’s time.
The second role is to act as the lead data manager for the UK national registry for patients with chronic myeloid leukaemia. In addition to entering data from our own patients into the registry database, the post-holder will liaise with HCP in other UK hospital trusts to support them to enter data from their own patients. The first task of this post holder will be to assist in the transfer of the data from an Access database to RedCap. This will involve interrogating the database and preparing the data for statistical analysis. We estimate that this role will comprise approximately 40% of the post-holder’s time.
