Job description

ARAG Legal Services UK are looking to bring on-board a Data Management Analyst to implement data governance and management practices within our market-leading Legal Expenses Insurance business. You will be supporting the Data Platforms & Architecture Manager and will work closely with specific business functions to be the point of reference on data related issues.

Partnering with business functions, your aim as Data Management Analyst will be to ensure data is well defined, understood, well managed and of good quality. You will function as a liaison between the business functions and Information Management teams, documenting data creation, usage, and flow, in particular data owners and data stewards.

Responsibilities
  • Understanding and documenting the creation, usage and flow of data and its eventual consumption in downstream applications including reporting and analytics use cases.
  • Maintaining data glossaries and data lineage graphs, compiling master data, and addressing data quality issues
  • Compiling and maintaining master data on behalf of the business and advocate for its usage ensuring it is up to date and can be trusted.
  • Work with the business to identify, understand and investigate Data quality issues and owning the problems and working with the relevant digital services teams to get them fixed or managed in an acceptable way.
  • Proactively implementing and monitoring data quality checks to monitor the health of the organisations data.
  • Collaborate with Technical teams throughout the development process to ensure data definitions are consistent, well understood and documented.
  • Identify any sources of off system data in the business and work with them and the wider digital services team to ensure its well defined and migrated on system when applicable.
Qualifications and experience
  • Strong attention to detail and organisation and planning skills with a good firsthand knowledge of data management processes
  • Advance level of Excel
  • Data analysis skills using tools like SQL
  • Strong team player must be able to communicate and collaborate with IT and business teams at all levels
  • Good communication skills with the ability to portray technical and non-technical elements of data quality topics
  • Understanding of data governance strategy, information management strategy, and data management best practices and principles as well as business acumen and strong commercial and financial awareness

It would also be desirable if you have:

  • Python for data analysis
  • Experience in the insurance and law sectors
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and data governance
  • Understanding of data governance strategy, information management strategy, and data management best practices and principles
  • Awareness of DAMA framework and other relevant frameworks
