Job description

Data Lead

Department: Technology

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: High Wycombe

Description

Hybrid working, 2 days per week in office

Mint Velvet began when founders Liz Houghton and Lisa Agar-Rea set out to create an unfailingly chic collection of contemporary, great quality staples and elevated fits that they felt were missing from their wardrobes. Feeling frustrated that they couldn’t find anything they wanted to wear, or the great customer service they craved, they started fusing relaxed comfort with glamorous yet wearable fashion trends. Relaxed Glamour was born.

As collaborative creatives, we take untold pride in our work, designing with heart and soul. We want to be a force for good and are committed to becoming a more circular and responsible business, from the fabrics we choose to our considered processes. We are an agile and growing business, and we work hard to create an environment which allows for growth and progression, balanced with the support and flexibility needed to meet the challenge of a high-performance culture.

Our leadership teams and founders sit amongst the teams and encourage a culture of balance and passion. MV is a very special place, and our values are anchored by three main pillars: people, planet, and community.

We’re looking for an experienced and hands‑on Data Lead to lead the next chapter of our data capability. This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of our modern data platform, shape our data strategy and build a culture where trusted insight drives every decision across the business.

As our Data Lead, you’ll combine strategic vision with practical delivery, ensuring our data ecosystem is scalable, secure and commercially impactful. You’ll play a pivotal role in enabling self‑service analytics, supporting AI‑driven decision‑making and building a data capability that evolves alongside our business.

Our Values:

With Soul. Courage & Resilience. Passion & Drive. Entrepreneurial Spirit. Collaborative.

The Role

As Data Lead, you’ll be responsible for defining the data vision, building capability and delivering insight that drives business performance.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Owning and evolving the company's modern data platform, ensuring it remains reliable, scalable and trusted as the single source of truth.
  • Defining and delivering the data strategy and roadmap, aligning priorities with wider business objectives.
  • Leading the transition, optimisation and ongoing development of our data architecture and reporting capabilities.
  • Ensuring data from key business systems is accurately captured, modelled, governed and readily available to support decision‑making.
  • Establishing and monitoring standards for data quality, documentation, platform performance and governance.
  • Managing relationships with technology partners and external data providers.
  • Remaining hands‑on across data engineering, analytics and emerging data‑science initiatives, supporting delivery wherever needed.
  • Designing and delivering dashboards, reporting solutions and self‑service tools that empower teams across the business.
  • Providing commercial insight across trading, merchandising, customer performance and operations.
  • Developing forecasting, customer segmentation and predictive analytics capabilities to support future growth.
  • Working closely with Product and Technology teams to ensure new systems, integrations and features generate high‑quality, measurable data.
  • Defining KPIs, success metrics and reporting frameworks in partnership with business stakeholders.
  • Championing data literacy and encouraging evidence‑based decision‑making across the organisation.
  • Acting as the trusted data partner to senior leaders across the business.
  • Driving innovation in how data is accessed and utilised, including enabling safe and effective AI‑powered data querying.
  • Ensuring data remains secure, governed and compliant with relevant data protection requirements.

As we continue to embrace AI, you’ll play a key role in ensuring data can be used confidently, consistently and responsibly.

You’ll:

  • Develop trusted data models and metric definitions that create consistency across reporting and AI‑generated insights.
  • Enable governed self‑service access to data through modern analytics and natural language querying tools.
  • Establish controls, permissions and security standards to ensure users only access appropriate information.
  • Validate AI‑generated outputs against trusted business metrics and continuously improve data quality and accuracy.
  • Support the development and adoption of responsible AI practices across the organisation.
What You’ll Have

We’re seeking a commercially minded data professional who enjoys building capability, solving complex problems and influencing business strategy through insight.

You’ll bring:

  • Significant experience leading data and analytics initiatives, ideally within a retail, ecommerce or customer‑focused environment.
  • A proven track record of building and scaling modern data platforms and reporting capabilities.
  • Strong hands‑on experience across data engineering, analytics and business intelligence.
  • Experience working with cloud‑based data warehouses and modern data‑stack technologies such as Snowflake, dbt and Fivetran.
  • Knowledge of DataOps principles, data modelling, governance and best‑practice development standards.
  • Experience delivering advanced analytics, forecasting, customer segmentation or predictive modelling initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of how data can be leveraged to support AI and natural language querying.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear business value.
  • A highly analytical mindset, balanced with commercial awareness and pragmatism.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring or developing others.
