Job description

Join us as a Data Infrastructure & MI Senior Manager and play a pivotal role in shaping how data drives decision-making across our unsecured lending business. Leading a specialist analytics team, you’ll ensure high quality, reliable data and reporting while providing the insights that help colleagues understand performance, manage risk and deliver better outcomes for customers. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the future of data and reporting, working at the heart of a business that values innovation, accuracy and continuous improvement.

You’ll help define how data is structured, accessed and used to support reporting, customer analysis and business insight. From developing new data sources and introducing automation to improving reporting capabilities and adopting new technologies, you’ll help transform the way information is delivered across the organisation. We’re looking for an experienced leader with a strong background in analytics, data, reporting or credit risk, excellent technical expertise across tools such as SQL, SAS, Python and Power BI, and a proven ability to turn complex data into meaningful insights for senior stakeholders.

Alongside your technical and strategic impact, you’ll play a key leadership role across wider business change, championing strong data governance, controls and regulatory compliance. You’ll lead and develop a high performing team of analysts and specialists, fostering an inclusive and collaborative culture while representing analytics at senior leadership level. If you’re passionate about using data to drive change, develop talented teams and influence business strategy, we’d love to hear from you.

We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.

This is a 24-month Fixed Term Contract opportunity.

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job you’ll be located at our nearest regional office or hub. There will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration and in some locations you’ll be expected to spend at least two days a week, or if part time you’ll spend 40% of your working time, in the office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you’ll lead a team responsible for delivering accurate, timely and impactful data and reporting that helps drive business performance. Working closely with leaders and specialists across the organisation, you’ll translate complex data into clear insights and actionable recommendations, ensuring colleagues have the information they need to make confident, informed decisions. No two days are the same, as you’ll balance strategic priorities, evolving business needs and opportunities to enhance the way data is used across the function.

You’ll play a key role in shaping the team’s focus, reviewing risks, priorities and upcoming changes to ensure effort is directed towards the areas that deliver the greatest value. Alongside this, you’ll support and develop your team, providing coaching, guidance and leadership while encouraging innovative thinking and continuous improvement. About you

You’ll be comfortable working with senior stakeholders, translating complex data into meaningful business insights, and leading initiatives that enhance reporting, data management and decision-making capabilities.

As a minimum you’ll have:

  • Significant experience leading analytics, data, reporting, management information or credit risk teams
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality reporting, insight and management information that supports business performance and strategic decision-making
  • Strong technical capability with tools and programming languages such as SQL, SAS, Python, Power BI, Excel Power Pivot and VBA
  • Experience designing, building or enhancing data marts, database structures, automated reporting solutions and data management processes
  • Demonstrable knowledge of consumer lending, credit cards or unsecured lending, including data governance and regulatory requirements
  • Proven ability to communicate complex data and insights clearly to senior stakeholders, influencing decisions through effective presentations and reporting
  • Experience leading change initiatives, managing competing priorities and developing high-performing teams within a fast-paced environment
