Job description

The Data Governance Manager role will sit within Market Conduct Surveillance and be responsible for supporting the delivery of a broad roadmap of data management and analysis outcomes, aligned to the overall Markets Conduct Surveillance data strategy. This role will be focused on administering data governance across exchanges as well as the broader Surveillance data landscape and supporting the Co-Head of Surveillance in managing the Data Governance agenda. This role will form part of the Group Compliance team and will report directly to the Co-Head of Surveillance. The Data Governance Manager role is an exciting role, offering variety and the opportunity to join a dynamic, fast-paced working environment.

Primary responsibilities:

  1. Implementation of data best practices across Market Conduct Surveillance.
  2. Designing and implementing data quality controls that meet data governance standards.
  3. Identifying and capturing critical data elements in the Market Conduct Surveillance data catalogue.
  4. Creation of a business data glossary, which defines standard data definitions.
  5. Collating and analysing KPIs and other data related measures to track the maturity of the Market Conduct Surveillance data landscape.
  6. Using JIRA to maintain data issues and risks, escalating priority data issues via appropriate Governance Forums.
  7. Undertaking the planning and status tracking of data governance deliverables and issues with risks and issues escalated to the Surveillance Working Group as appropriate.
  8. You will be passionate about your role and motivated to provide clear written and verbal communication on the Surveillance Data Governance landscape ensuring both risks and issues are clearly documented and recorded in appropriate reporting repositories.
  9. You will also contribute to the delivery of the Market Conduct Surveillance operating model, e.g., Data Governance controls and oversight mechanisms, helping to define communications cadence on Data Governance and ensuring Surveillance manages the risks of Data Governance in a way which is proportionate to the size and scale of our business.

Experience Required:

  1. Proven track record of delivering change in the Data Governance, Data Management space.
  2. Experience of efficiently implementing data governance and management solutions within financial organisations.
  3. Ability to analyse and address Surveillance related data and performance issues across trade data, order data, market data sourced both directly from external feeds and internal data sources as well as communications (sourced across multiple vendor feeds and internal HR datasets).

Familiarity with external providers of data is beneficial.
Experience and knowledge of financial services regulatory framework and policy is beneficial.


Skill Sets:

  1. Supporting Surveillance in the remediation of critical data issues, highlighting the risks associated with poor data quality.
  2. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  3. Strong planning skills with a track record of embedding sustainable Data Governance and controls into operating models.
  4. Strong stakeholder engagement skills able to understand data related relationships, roles and responsibilities between different departments and businesses.
  5. Experience of working with global stakeholders is a plus.
