A leading charity organization is seeking a Data Governance Manager to establish and manage a data governance framework. This hybrid role will involve collaboration with stakeholders to enhance data practices and ensure compliance with data protection laws. This role is offered on a hybrid basis, allowing you to work from home three days a week.

Purpose of the Job:
As our Data Governance Manager, you will work closely with stakeholders across Comic Relief to design and embed our data governance framework and provide assurance on its effectiveness.
This is an exciting time for Comic Relief, as we aim to improve our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and data practices organization-wide.
This new role is vital in delivering a data governance framework that maximizes the benefits of the improved CRM, promoting best practices to set us up for success.
Data Governance Framework
Design, develop, and embed a comprehensive Data Governance Framework, building on existing policies and aligning with organizational strategy and best practices.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to design and implement data quality standards, processes, procedures, and ensure data security.
Develop and implement a data management lifecycle, including data retention, validation, and cleansing processes.
Compliance with Data Protection Laws and Regulations
Work with the Legal & Assurance team to ensure the Data Governance Framework complies with data protection laws.
Advise on Data Privacy Impact Assessments and oversee data incident management with the Data Protection Officer.
Promote a culture of data governance through employee training.
Monitoring and Assurance
Identify and assess data governance risks, implementing mitigation strategies within the framework.
Establish a risk-based assurance program for data quality and security standards.
Provide assurance to senior stakeholders on the framework's effectiveness.
Experience in managing data governance, ideally within the UK charity or not-for-profit sector.
Strong knowledge of UK and EU data protection and information security principles.
Experience in risk-based compliance monitoring and assurance to senior management.
Excellent communication skills, able to translate complex concepts for non-technical audiences.
Stakeholder engagement skills and ability to build relationships at all levels.
Experience managing multiple projects and prioritizing tasks effectively.
Ability to take ownership and escalate issues when necessary.
Experience with CRM or other system implementations.
Relevant professional qualification in data governance or management.
