Base pay range

Our client is a small but established international bank based in London, who are looking to recruit a new Data Governance Manager. The role will have responsibility for the design and build of the enterprise-wide data strategy and data governance capabilities for the bank in full alignment with their data governance strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Developing the strategic roadmap for data governance initiatives, incorporating all business areas
• Supporting the design and recommending improvements of data processes, roles, responsibilities and governance
• defining data policies, standards and guidelines
• Identifying and documenting key data elements, processes and consumption contexts to understand where data is sourced from and held, what it means and how it flows across the organisation
• Establishing clear ownership and accountability for all key data
• Presenting progress and updates to the Data Working Council (DWC)
• Developing a business glossary of all key terms and acronyms
• Formalising a data quality framework to strengthen controls and reduce data risk, proactively supporting DQ issue resolution
• Training users on responsibilities and accountabilities throughout the lifecycle of data
• Assisting with data architecture review by advising on data management solutions
• Identifying development opportunities to future proof the data strategy
• Contributing to internal / external-facing discussion on data strategy and framework

Education / Certifications

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Data Strategy, Management and Governance
• A background in Financial Services (e.g. banking, insurance, investment management, trade finance) is preferable
• Proven ability to think strategically complementing analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with strong experience and comfort working autonomously and in team environments.
• A strong understanding of Data Strategy and Data Management principles, and one or more of several common Data Management methodologies and capability models (e.g. DAMA DMBOK, DCAM, CDMC) and toolsets
• Experience in facilitating maturity assessments, eliciting & understanding strategic objectives, pain points, and requirements, and providing actionable recommendations
• Experience supporting the definition of data strategies, business cases and roadmaps
