We are looking for a Data Governance Leader to join our data leadership team and become our champion for data governance, supporting data risk management across Leonardo UK. As the lead for data governance, you will have the exciting opportunity to build core capabilities that protect data assets for Leonardo UK. If you are ambitious to develop and mature a data governance framework across all Business Divisions and Functions, this role is for you.

What you’ll do as our Data Governance Lead

• Report to the Head of Data and Analytics as part of the Data Leadership Team in the D&IT Function, representing data governance.
• Act as the product owner of our data catalogue, supporting its implementation and deployment.
• Define and embed data governance processes using the data catalogue within our hub and spoke model for delivering data and analytics.
• Coordinate decision support packs, status updates, and audits of data governance evaluations within the DPMT, collaborating with legal and commercial partners.
• Provide operational support for data incidents and investigations, aligned with our data governance policies.
• Develop policies and assets that guide data governance processes.
• Create a maturity roadmap and continuous improvement plan to support data governance initiatives across stakeholders.
• Support workforce upskilling and education through content delivery in the Digital Academy to enhance data governance awareness and maturity.

What we need from you:

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to investigate and provide insights into data governance challenges, offering solutions to manage data risks.
• Experience with data catalogue tools and understanding of their role in enabling data governance.
• Proven experience in data governance roles, especially related to regulation and compliance of Military Data, Intellectual Property, and PII.
• Relevant qualifications or training such as DAMA (Certified Data Management Professional) or CISSP.
