How you’ll play your part

In this role, you will establish and manage the Data Governance programme and coordinate all related initiatives and processes. This includes:

  • Developing Data Governance Vision & Strategy
  • Creating Data Governance Charter & Organisation Structure
  • Establishing Data Governance Metrics

Main Accountabilities

  • Define objectives and scope of the Data Governance programme.
  • Establish the data governance organization and ad hoc working groups.
  • Lead the setup of the Data Governance programme.
  • Make decisions and deliverables related to data governance, including processes, policies, and roles.
  • Manage Data Governance artefacts such as metadata standards, data dictionaries, quality standards, information models, reporting and analytics standards, and ethical guidelines.
  • Coordinate with external parties to ensure data handling requirements are met and demonstrate programme effectiveness.
  • Lead the development and implementation of data governance frameworks, reviewing business processes with SMEs and ensuring proper data identification, cleansing, and controls.
  • Document, implement, and ensure compliance with data governance policies.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders to secure support and commitment.
  • Communicate activity status to executive management and escalate risks and issues as needed.
  • Manage team risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Influence outcomes based on data strategy in Data Forums.

About you

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of Data & Analytics disciplines.
  • Deep knowledge of business strategy and the role of data in achieving it.
  • Experience in program management, negotiation, and communication.
  • Ability to monitor evolving data governance trends and external factors like GDPR.
  • Extensive experience in Data Governance and related practices.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with business, data, and technical teams to define governance requirements.
  • Leadership and communication skills with both business and technical partners.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience with Data Governance tools and master data management.
  • Knowledge of Data Loss Prevention.
  • Relevant IT Security certifications such as CISM/CISSP are advantageous.
