Job summary

Primark Stores Limited is seeking a Data Governance Analyst for the Smart Retail Ordering (SRO) programme. You will help roll out governance practices, develop data definitions, and improve data quality across product, supplier and inventory data.

The role partners with data owners and tech teams to embed governance in new processes, while delivering guidance and training on best practices in data management. A fast-paced retail environment awaits.

  • Support rollout of data governance practices across the SRO programme.
  • Develop data definitions, glossaries, standards, and governance docs.
  • Improve data quality and Master Data Management for product, supplier, inventory, and ordering data.
  • Monitor data quality, investigate discrepancies, and perform validation checks.
  • Support data lineage and traceability initiatives for ordering and stock management.
  • Deliver training and guidance to promote best practices in data management.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and data extracts; drive process improvements.

What You'll do as Data Governance Analyst – Smart Retail Ordering (SRO)

We want you to feel challenged and inspired. Here, you’ll develop your skills across a range of responsibilities:

  • Support the rollout of data governance practices within the Smart Retail Ordering (SRO) programme, working with Data Owners and stakeholders across technology, retail, and supply chain functions to establish clear data ownership and accountability.
  • Develop and maintain data definitions, business glossaries, standards, and governance documentation for critical SRO data elements.
  • Improve the quality, consistency, and usability of product, supplier, inventory, and ordering data through effective data quality management and Master Data Management (MDM) practices.
  • Monitor data quality, manage data issues, conduct root cause analysis, investigate discrepancies, and perform validation and quality checks across data platforms.
  • Support data lineage and traceability initiatives, providing greater transparency and confidence in ordering, inventory, and stock management decisions.
  • Partner with business and technology teams to embed governance principles into new SRO processes and systems, while delivering training and guidance to promote best practices in data management.
  • Drive continuous improvement by preparing ad hoc reports and data extracts, identifying and implementing process enhancements, transforming data analysis processes for greater accuracy and scalability, and supporting governance reviews, audits, and risk management activities.

  • Proven experience in data governance, data quality, or data management, with a strong understanding of retail buying, merchandising principles, and retail, supply chain, merchandising, or operational data.
  • Strong ability to work effectively with both business stakeholders and technical teams, building collaborative relationships and driving alignment across functions.
  • Highly analytical, with experience identifying, investigating, and resolving data quality issues to support accurate and reliable business information.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment, adapting to changing priorities while maintaining high standards of delivery.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence audiences at all levels.
  • Demonstrates a high level of integrity, professionalism, diplomacy, and tact, supported by strong planning, organisational, prioritisation, and multitasking skills to deliver work within agreed timelines.
