Job Description

Role Overview: Drive and deliver operational management of ‘assured data’ across the organisation, focusing on data quality improvements, controls, and managing the Group Data Catalogue content and ownership to ensure analytics, insights, and decisions are based on validated data.

The role involves working across multiple teams, utilizing various systems, tools, and technologies.

Responsibilities
  1. Manage daily operations of the Group Data Catalogue, leveraging its features and understanding its technical setup.
  2. Enhance data quality through profiling and rule implementation, measuring improvements and value delivered.
  3. Develop data quality triage processes, prioritizing issues with impact assessments and KPIs.
  4. Create and implement data catalogue processes to facilitate data discovery, prototyping, and data science, supporting transition to production solutions.
  5. Identify artefacts for ingestion, ensuring clear communication and usage within the Data Community.
  6. Maintain and update the Group Data Catalogue, removing outdated entries and addressing non-compliance issues.
  7. Familiarize with and review functionalities of Data Catalogue software, recommending updates and latest features.
  8. Coordinate source system data quality remediation with relevant owners and experts.
  9. Collaborate with data ownership and stewardship teams to improve data quality via the cataloguing capability.
  10. Prioritize work for 3-6 months ahead, manage time effectively, and complete tasks timely.
  11. Conduct root cause analysis and address data quality issues with appropriate recommendations.
Requirements

Mandatory Skills:

  • Advanced SQL skills
  • Strong knowledge of data quality tools, processes, metadata, stewardship, ownership, and cataloguing concepts
  • Experience with Data Cataloguing tools such as Alation, Collibra, etc.
  • GitHub proficiency
  • Experience creating reports and visualizations using Tableau, Power BI, Microstrategy, etc.
  • Awareness of Data Vault Modelling
  • Understanding of data stores, data warehouses, and related tools
  • Knowledge of data quality methodologies and lifecycle management
  • Degree in Mathematics or Science

Desirable Skills:

  • Root cause analysis and triage skills
  • Understanding of JIRA and Agile principles
