Pets is seeking a Data Governance Analyst to build, embed and continually improve our data governance framework across the business. The role is hybrid at Handforth Support Office, Grade E, salary £40k per annum plus benefits.

You will work closely with our Data Governance Lead and stakeholders across Technology, Data, Privacy, Security and the wider business to ensure customer, product, clinical and colleague data is trusted, well-managed and fit for the future.

Data Governance Analyst

What you'll be doing

Working closely with our Data Governance Lead and stakeholders across Technology, Data, Privacy, Security and the wider business, you'll help ensure our Customer, Product, Clinical and Colleague data is trusted, well-managed and fit for the future.

You'll:

• Support and maintain our enterprise data governance framework
• Coordinate governance activities, actions and stakeholder engagement
• Help define and improve data ownership, stewardship and accountability
• Support data quality initiatives, investigations and remediation activities
• Maintain governance documentation, policies, standards and reporting
• Assist with audits, controls, compliance requirements and evidence gathering
• Contribute to our data catalogue, metadata management and governance tooling
• Create practical guidance and help colleagues understand their data responsibilities
• Support the safe and responsible use of data as we continue our AI journey

About you

We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people just as much as they enjoy working with data.

You'll likely have experience in data governance, data quality, data management or a similar discipline, and be comfortable engaging with stakeholders across different teams.

You'll bring:

• Strong organisational and documentation skills
• An eye for detail and a passion for doing things properly
• Confidence coordinating actions and keeping initiatives moving forward
• The ability to simplify complex information and communicate it clearly
• An understanding of concepts such as data ownership, stewardship, metadata, lineage and data quality
• A collaborative approach and confidence challenging constructively when needed
• Bonus points if you've worked with governance or data quality tools, have experience in retail or regulated environments, or have exposure to data protection, information security or AI readiness programmes.
