Job summary

La Fosse in London is seeking a Data Engineering Manager to lead a small team of Data and Analytics Engineers while owning the data platform roadmap.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Data Engineering Manager to join an exciting, product-driven business and lead a small team of Data Engineers and Analytics Engineers.

This is a key role within the Data function, responsible for leading engineering delivery and helping develop a modern data platform that supports critical commercial decision-making.

The Role

As Data Engineering Manager, you will lead and develop a small team while taking ownership of the engineering roadmap, delivery and operational performance of the data platform. You will work closely with Data Architects, Principal Data Engineers, Data Product teams and senior business stakeholders to turn business requirements into high-quality, scalable data products.

A key focus of the role will be helping the organisation evolve towards an AI-enabled data platform, embedding AI into the engineering lifecycle and identifying opportunities to use AI to improve the development and delivery of data products.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop a small team of Data Engineers and Analytics Engineers.
• Own sprint planning, capacity management, prioritisation and delivery.
• Translate business requirements into clear technical plans, timelines, costs and dependencies.
• Work closely with Data Architecture and senior engineering stakeholders to translate architectural strategy into delivery.
• Deliver data products that support commercial areas including pricing, marketing and revenue optimisation.
• Drive the evolution of the data platform towards decision intelligence and AI-enabled data products.
• Embed AI into engineering practices including development, testing, documentation and delivery.
• Provide clear reporting to senior stakeholders around delivery, risks, capacity, costs and trade-offs.
• Maintain high standards across data engineering, data quality, governance and platform reliability.

About You

• Proven experience managing or leading a Data Engineering team.
• Strong technical background in modern data engineering and data platforms.
• Strong experience with Snowflake and dbt.
• Good understanding of data architecture, ELT, data products and analytics engineering.
• Technically credible, with sufficient hands-on experience to guide and challenge engineering teams.
• Strong delivery experience, including planning, estimation, prioritisation and resource management.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence engaging with senior and C-suite stakeholders.
• Commercially minded, with the ability to connect technical delivery to business outcomes.
• Experience using AI within data or engineering environments is highly desirable.
• A genuine interest in how AI, automation and emerging technologies can improve data engineering and product delivery.
