Job summary

Peaple Talent is recruiting an experienced Data Engineering Lead to join a growing Data & Insight function in the United Kingdom. You will lead and mentor a team, shape data strategy, and drive the Databricks transformation while staying technically hands-on with Python, SQL and Spark.

You’ll work closely with Technology, Architecture, BI, and business teams to deliver data platforms and products, balancing leadership with strategic thinking.

Qualifications

• Experience in leading Data Engineering teams.
• Hands-on with Databricks, Spark, Python and SQL.
• Solid understanding of modern data architecture and engineering practices.
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to balance technical leadership with strategic thinking.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of Data Engineers.
• Provide technical direction across data platforms and products.
• Drive migration to Databricks and a modern lakehouse environment.
• Stay hands-on with complex engineering challenges using Python, SQL & Spark.
• Collaborate with Technology, Architecture, BI and wider business teams.
• Support major transformation and integration programmes.
