Job summary

Bookouture, the UK's leading digital publisher, seeks a Data Engineer to design data structures from the ground up and evolve existing systems, ensuring robust, auditable data and reporting. You will collaborate with the Data & Analysis Director and cross-functional teams to improve data flows.

Based in London with a hybrid pattern (3 days in-office, 2 remote), you will build SQL Server databases, ingestion processes, and dashboards while exploring ML-ready data structures.

Qualifications

• Computer science background with extensive workplace experience of relational databases.
• Proficient in relational database design and structural planning (essential).
• Significant experience with SQL Server, queries, stored procedures and data flows (essential).
• Experience with SSIS to manage daily import processes and incremental loads.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure integrations and REST APIs.
• Experience building automations in Python and working with BI tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and build SQL Server databases and schemas to support reporting.
• Create end-to-end data ingestion workflows from various sources.
• Analyse and streamline on-premise relational databases and ETL packages.
• Collaborate with department heads to provide data access and support.
• Maintain and develop Tableau/Power BI dashboards and reporting streams.
• Collaborate on machine-learning data structures with the Publishing Innovation Director.
• Respond to ad-hoc reporting requests and automate manual tasks.
• Continuously optimise workflows for speed and reliability.
