Bookouture, part of Hachette UK, is seeking a Data Engineer in London to design data structures and build robust data systems. You will develop SQL Server databases, ingestion workflows, and reporting layers while collaborating with finance, marketing, and publishing teams to deliver data-driven insights.

The role focuses on scalable data architectures, ETL with SSIS, and enabling machine-learning projects through well-structured data.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with relational databases and SQL Server.
• Proficient in database design, data flows and ETL processes.
• Experience with SSIS and data integration into reporting layers.
• Experience with Azure integrations and REST APIs.
• Proficiency with Python for automation and data tasks.
• Experience in data visualization tools (Tableau/Power BI).

Responsibilities

• Design and build SQL Server databases and schemas for reporting.
• Create end-to-end data ingestion from sources to reporting layer.
• Analyse and optimise existing SQL Server databases and SSIS packages.
• Develop automation via API and browser-based tools.
• Collaborate with department heads for data access and projects.
• Maintain dashboards and develop new reporting streams.
• Support ML data structures with data engineering workflows.
• Respond to ad-hoc data requests and automate manual tasks.
