Job description

We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Data Engineer to join our Digital Technology & Change team at our Solihull office on a hybrid basis. As a key team member, you will contribute to shaping and implementing the nPower Business Solutions (nBS) strategy to enhance the digital customer and colleague experience. You will also support our transition towards a Product-led DevOps model and help expand our operational capabilities. nBS is part of E.ON's Industrial and Commercial (I&C) division, a market leader in the energy retail sector, serving around 30,000 customers and approximately 250,000 meter points with the aim of becoming the top B2B energy supplier in the UK.

Data Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Data Team to implement data strategies and optimize I&C data management, focusing on cloud technologies.
  • Lead the development and performance of a Modern Data Platform, including migrating legacy systems to secure, scalable cloud infrastructure.
  • Deliver consolidated business data, optimize data processes, provide analytics, and ensure data quality across I&C.
  • Advocate for data standards within the organization, coaching staff to uphold high data quality standards.
  • Support end-to-end delivery of change projects through knowledge sharing and expertise.
  • Develop new data solutions to meet business needs and drive project benefits.
  • Create and deliver MI reports, executive summaries, and BDAs, adhering to coding standards.
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for data solutions, meeting performance and SLA requirements.
  • Maintain I&C Data Delivery Artefacts and focus on continuous learning and development in solution practices.

Requirements

  • Forward-thinking with the ability to anticipate future change and scalability needs.
  • Understanding of change governance, project methodologies (Waterfall & Agile), and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency in handling, manipulating, and analyzing complex datasets.
  • Expertise in MS Power BI, SSRS, SSIS, Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio, GitHub, DevOps, Microsoft Fabric or Synapse, and Microsoft Purview.
