A leading tech company in the UK is seeking a Data Engineer to tackle large-scale data warehousing challenges. You will collaborate with global teams to build systems that enhance data processing for Prime Video. Ideal candidates will have experience in programming languages like Python and Java, and familiarity with big data and AWS technologies. This role offers a chance to innovate in the entertainment sector, driving strategic decision-making.
You'll solve data warehousing problems on a massive scale and apply cloud-based AWS services to address challenges around: big data processing, data warehouse design, self-service data access, automated data quality detection, and building infrastructure as code. You'll be part of the team focused on automation and optimization for all areas of DW/ETL maintenance and deployment.
You'll work closely with global business partners and technical teams on many non-standard and unique business problems, using creative problem solving to deliver data products that underpin Prime Video's strategic decision-making, from content selection to on-platform customer experience. You'll develop efficient systems and tools to process data, utilizing scalable technologies that can handle seasonal spikes and accommodate future growth. Your work will directly impact day-to-day decision-making across Prime Video.
Requirements include experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS; experience with big data technologies like Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR; building and operating highly available, distributed systems for data extraction, ingestion, and processing large data sets; data modeling, warehousing, and ETL pipelines; knowledge of distributed systems related to data storage and computing; professional software engineering practices, including coding standards, architectures, code reviews, source control, continuous deployment, testing, and operational excellence; experience as a Data Engineer or similar role; and proficiency with SQL.
Preferred qualifications include experience with AWS technologies such as Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions; and experience delivering end-to-end projects independently.
