Job description

RWE Generation SE
To start as soon as possible, full time, permanent

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our OT team, responsible for our gas, coal and biomass fired power plants in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom and Turkey.
The OT environment consists of powerplants with PLC, DCS, Scada and expert systems, two redundant tier-3 data centers, WAN connections to the unit DMZ’s, the powerplant DMZ’s and connections with other data centers of other RWE business units and TSO’s.
Within the OT environment, we are running an OSIsoft PI environment archiving process data of most of our power plants. This data is used for real time process and quality monitoring, offline process improvement, maintenance management and reporting.
With evolving changes there is a push to store more data and to move to open standards. Therefore, we have started a project to investigate and probably implement a new PIMS, based on TimescaleDB, RabbitMQ and Grafana.

About the role

  • Responsibility for maintaining the existing PIMS environment and investigating the transition to the new PIMS environment.
  • Design a data architecture that adapt to changing needs.
  • Implement security measures without hindering data accessibility.
  • Optimize performance across systems.
  • Integrate AI and machine learning.

Job Requirements and Experience

  • Time series databases, preferable OSIsoft PI and TimescaleDB.
  • OSIsoft PI suite e.g. PI AF, PI Vision, PI interfaces (OPC DA and UA).
  • PowerShell and Python.
  • Power generation and process control.
  • OT Cyber security.
