Are you an experienced Data Engineer with a passion for coaching and mentoring others?

Join our client’s growing team as a Data Engineering Coach, where you'll coach, guide & mentor junior/apprentice Data Engineer’s throughout their apprenticeship journey - from day one to completion.

This is a highly flexible, remote-working role, ideal for Data Engineering professionals seeking meaningful work, and one that could still fit around other commitments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver 1:1 and small group coaching sessions to support Data Engineer apprentices across a variety of industries
  • Provide technical mentoring in core Data Engineering tools, techniques, and methodologies — including Python, SQL, ETL pipelines, data warehousing, cloud platforms, and version control
  • Offer pastoral support, helping learners stay on track and fully motivated throughout their programme
  • Support learners in building confidence and developing practical, job-ready data engineering skills
  • Collaborate with employers to ensure learner progress and success in real-world projects
  • Adapt coaching styles to meet diverse learner needs and learning styles
  • Track learner development and provide constructive, actionable feedback

What We’re Looking For:

  • Industry Experience: At least 1+ years of hands-on experience working in Data Engineering (open to professionals from various data eng. backgrounds — data pipelines, ML Eng, data warehousing, analytics engineering, big data, cloud etc.)
  • Technical Exposure: Experience with tools like SQL, Python, Apache Spark, Kafka, Cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), and modern data stack technologies
  • Formal or Informal Coaching Experience: Any previous coaching, mentoring, or training experience — formal or informal (no need to have worked as a Coach / Trainer / Lecturer etc.)
  • Passion for People: Enthusiastic about supporting others to learn, grow, and succeed
  • Excellent Communication: Able to explain technical data engineering concepts clearly and effectively
  • Organised and Self-Motivated: Comfortable managing your own schedule and learner caseload

What’s on Offer

  • Remote working with flexibility — choose full-time or part-time hours
  • Rewarding, purpose-driven work making a real impact on learners’ careers
  • Full training & up-skilling on how to become an effective Coach
  • CPD around all further areas of Data Engineering, Analytics, and wider tech fields
  • A quality-focused environment that ALWAYS puts learner needs & education first
