Job summary

Michael Page seeks an experienced Data Engineer for a leading UK retailer based in Nottingham. You will develop and maintain data pipelines, optimise databases, and design ETL processes to support data-driven decision making.

The role requires strong SQL, experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Logic Apps and Databricks, plus knowledge of Data Lakes/Synapse/Delta Lakes. Onsite one day per week in Nottingham; salary £55,000–£57,000 with excellent benefits.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Data Engineer or similar role.
• Full UK Driving Licence required.
• Strong SQL skills with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with data pipelines and ETL tools (Azure Data Factory, Azure Logic Apps, Databricks).
• Knowledge of Data Lakes, Synapse, Delta Lakes.
• Programming in Python, Java, or Scala.
• Data modelling, warehousing and data visualization knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain robust data pipelines to ingest, process, and transform data from various sources.
• Implement data integration processes supporting the flow of information across the organisation.
• Design, optimise and manage databases to ensure performance, availability and scalability.
• Craft ETL processes including cleaning, aggregation and enrichment for efficient data processing.
• Build and maintain data warehouses for structured data storage and easy retrieval.
• Implement data quality checks and monitor data integrity proactively.
• Optimise pipelines and databases for future growth and performance.
• Enforce data security measures to protect privacy and data assets.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for pipelines, processes and models.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver data-driven solutions.
