Data Engineer - Permanent

London based - Full time / Hybrid.

This role, in the newly formed MS AIML data and technology team, will assist in the implementation of data solutions, including the integration of a new investment management platform that will be delivered as part of an exciting transformation of the business. The successful candidate will make important contributions to the evolution of the organisation's technical environment through systems development and automation of the current business processes, to facilitate future business growth.

This is an exciting role for someone with a passion for technology with the desire to develop the key skills required to thrive in an Investment Management department in a large global organisation. The role will initially involve the transformation of existing manual processes, through automation, using contemporary development tools. The technology stack is, principally but not limited to, Microsoft Azure, C#, .NET, and SQL server.

What you will spend your time doing:

While there is rarely a 'typical' day within this role, here is a snapshot of some of the key parts of the job:
  • Work closely with the business to resolve legacy processes by assisting in the continued development of a modern data platform including ETL, data quality, and APIs.
  • Work with the transformation project team to deliver integration with the new investment management platform with the internal data-warehouse.
  • Facilitate data ingestion resulting in seamless integration to both internal and external data sources.
  • Develop and rollout automated solutions, in accordance with technical standards.
  • Work with the change team to understand and capture requirements.
  • Assist in the design and develop data structures to enhance to the current databases and data warehouse (SQL Server).
  • Produce high-quality documentation to enable on-going support and audits.
  • Work with our strategic data partners to source data as and when needed.

What you will need:

For this role there are some important qualifications and experience we need you to have. These include:
  • Bachelor's degree or similar in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related discipline.
  • 5 years of experience within an asset management Data Engineering environment.
  • Degree education, ideally within a scientific or engineering subject area.
  • Advanced experience using Microsoft .NET (ASP.NET Core), SQL Server, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), web and database development, automation and reporting using Power BI and Excel including VBA.
  • Expert in at least one programming language like C#, Python, Java including JavaScript along with any exposure to one or more of APIs, Azure DevOps (Pipelines, CI/CD) and GIT.
  • Strong understanding of Investment products and Bloomberg.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to analyse, problem solve and think strategically.
