Data Engineer/Analyst (Junior Data BA)

A Leading Financial Services Business are looking to hire a Data focused Operations Analyst who ideally has experienced working with large complex data sets.

  • 6 month initial contract (scope to roll)
  • £275 - £375pd via Umbrella company (Inside IR35)
  • Based in London, City.
  • Hybrid Working - 2/3 days in the office per week
  • MUST HAVE - Data Background and any F/S experience would be beneficial
Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated Business / Operational Analyst to support our data initiatives. This role is ideal for someone passionate about analysing and manipulating large datasets to drive business insights and executing on operational aspects of the resulting data cleaning. You will collaborate across teams and work with senior stakeholders to deliver high-impact, data-driven recommendations that inform decision-making and strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with large, complex datasets to extract and interpret meaningful business insights.
  • Clean, transform, and analyse data using tools like Excel and SQL (if familiar).
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver actionable analysis.
  • Document data sources, definitions, and processes to ensure transparency and repeatability.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity through regular validation and monitoring.
  • Execute on operational aspects of data remediation / cleansing.
  • (Preferred) Assist in automating recurring reporting tasks and improving data workflows.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Business, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SQL for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Attention to detail and comfort working with large, complex datasets.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a curiosity for uncovering trends and insights.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for presenting findings to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently in a hybrid environment and collaborate with team members (client and internal).
  • (Optional) Exposure to scripting languages (e.g., Python, R) for advanced data analysis.
