Emerald Group is seeking a seasoned Data Engineer on a long-term contract to support a migration from AWS to Azure. The role centres on re-architecting SSIS pipelines, data modelling, and BI reporting, with a strong emphasis on SQL relational databases and data quality.

This hybrid London-based role requires collaboration with stakeholders, DevOps involvement, and ensuring secure, auditable data flows across environments, with roughly one day per week in the office.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in data field, preferably in financial services.
• Data classification and GDPR awareness.
• Experience with MGA business and UK general insurance market.
• DevOps exposure and data pipelines experience.
• Strong SSIS pipelines development and SQL relational databases.

Responsabilités

• Lift & shift existing SSIS pipelines from AWS to Azure (70-80% of role).
• Liaise with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements.
• Data modelling for analysis.
• Work with multiple data sources (structured and unstructured).
• Manage the data warehouse in terms of security, structure, dev/prod environments.
• Ensure data quality and audibility through pipelines.
• Monitor performance and logs; apply updates for stable operation.

Description du poste

This long-term contract data engineering role will support the current data engineer on a migration project from AWS to Azure, which will run until the end of next year. The role will predominantly consist of the re-architecture and migrations of current SSIS pipelines, with some BAU pipeline building and reporting work. Candidates will need to be comfortable using legacy stack skills (SSIS) and working with SQL relational data bases.

Key responsibilities including but not limited to the following:

• “Lift & shift” existing SSIS pipelines from AWS to Azure (70 – 80% of the role)
• Liaise with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements
• Data modelling for analysis
• Working with multiple data sources (structured and unstructured)
• Manage the data warehouse in terms of security, structure, dev / prod environments
• Ensure data quality (accurate, consistent, reliable) and ensure data is validated and auditable as it flows through the pipelines
• Monitor performance output and audit logs and apply updates as required to ensure environment operates effectively

Please note this is a hybrid role with 1 day a week in London, and 4 days from home. There may be the odd extra requirement based on business needs, but will average at 1 day per week from home.

• 5 years’+ experience working in a data related field preferably within the financial services industry
• Data classification, GDPR and working with sensitive data
• Understanding of MGA business and UK general insurance market
• Experience with DevOps and data pipelines
• Strong experience in building SSIS pipelines
