The IT Recruiter with experience of building and leading IT teams rather than sales led recruitment
  • Do you like to drive change through new and innovative use of data?
  • Can you lead and influence business colleagues around how they can use their data?
  • Do you like to join Change Programmes at the early stage so you can help shape what can be done?
  • Are you open minded about Data Toolsets and what each can bring to a technology programme?
  • Are you looking to work with a forward thinking and financially strong UK company?

If you can say yes to all the above points, then read on, this is an opportunity to use your skills with Data to shape and modernise how this well-respected and strong company use their Data to shape their future. My client is a class leading UK business who have a seven-year order book, so they are strong and good at what they do. This is an opportunity to join the right team who know how to do the right things.

What will you be doing?

The role is based in the Woolpit Head Office, and you will be expected to be on-site for three days a week. The other two days can be from home unless you prefer to work in the office full-time.

The role is part of a Change Programme where the vision is to be the leading industry partner to accelerate the UK towards net zero for their customers. Their group of companies has been the major drive for change and innovation over 30 years.

The team are embarking on an ambitious business change programme with the aim of harnessing the power of our data to continue to drive the business forward and help serve their customers even better. They are at the beginning of this journey and are looking for an enthusiastic ‘Data Engineer – Data & Business Change’ who enjoys embedding new ways of working and showcasing their skills to drive change within the business.

You will be joining a new team and will have the opportunity to contribute to both your peers and the wider businesses learning, work with our external partner to embed our data strategy and help us lay the foundations for future exciting data projects.

As part of the programme team, you will be working with other people who are passionate about bringing new ways of thinking around data to the business and will be well supported in exploring new directions of travel.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to showcase the power of data, drive change within the business, and help embed best practise.

What skills and experience do you need for the role?

This role is all about having the right mix of Data Engineer skills and experience together with a mindset that allows you to explore and influence how the programme can be shaped both technically and with business colleagues. You will be comfortable trialling new technologies and toolsets, and also working one-to-one with business colleagues.

  • Degree within a technical or business-related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience designing and implementing engineering solutions to complex problems with usage of data mining tools and techniques
  • Exposure to large and complex datasets, identifying efficiencies, required manipulation and governance
  • Communication skills with the ability to liaise with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Inquisitive nature with strong analytical skills

What is in it for you?

Not all jobs are with financially strong companies who care about making their working environment a great place to work. This is the opportunity to build a career, and yes, they help with that too, within a bigger IT team where they like to promote within rather than hire in new staff. As well as a good salary of up to £60k depending on experience, there is a strong benefits package.

Holiday - 33 days holiday (including bank holidays) plus an extra day after 10 and 20 years. Option to ‘buy’ up to an extra 10 days holiday.

Great Place to Work - ranked for as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces since 2018, one of the UK’s Best Workplaces for Women since 2021, and one of the UK’s Best workplaces for Wellbeing since 2022.

Long Service Awards - We reward loyalty with additional holiday at 10-, 20- and 30-years’ service, and gift voucher awards at 15 and 25 years.

Flexible Working – 2 days in the office, 3 days remote.

Learning & Development - Investment in people, offering technical and professional development and qualifications, personal development and leadership and management development.
