Job summary

AtkinsRéalis UK Limited is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to design, build, and operate modern data pipelines in Azure. You will contribute across the data lifecycle, delivering scalable solutions for diverse client projects with a balance of on-site and hybrid working arrangements.

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience with Azure data services, strong SQL and Python/PySpark skills, and a passion for engineering best practices, governance, and performance tuning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, data engineering, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience in data engineering, database development, or data integration.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure data services.

Responsibilities

  • Own data lifecycle development, delivery, and support of cutting-edge solutions.
  • Collaborate across teams to deploy data pipelines and analytics at scale.
  • On-site involvement at client sites as required.

Technical Skills
  • Azure Data Factory (ADF)
  • Azure Databricks
  • Azure Synapse Analytics
  • Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS)
  • Azure SQL Database and SQL Server
  • Microsoft Fabric (preferred)
  • Advanced SQL development and performance tuning skills
  • Experience with Python, PySpark, or Scala for data processing
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modelling
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub
  • Understanding cloud architecture and distributed data processing
Data Management
  • Experience with ETL/ELT frameworks and data integration patterns
  • Knowledge of data quality, data governance and metadata management
  • Familiarity with big data technologies and streaming solutions is advantageous
Experience & Education Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in Data Engineering, Database Development, or Data Integration
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure data services
Preferred Microsoft certifications
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203)
  • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
  • Azure Database Administrator Associate
