Join our dynamic Data Team as a Data Engineer, where you'll play a central role in driving the design, development, and optimisation of data pipelines into our data lake. You'll ensure scalability while supporting multiple business use cases, ultimately delivering significant value to AXA. At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home, moving to the majority of your working week from September 2025. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events. What you'll be doing:
• Build, maintain and optimise scalable data pipelines to handle various data types from multiple sources.
• Work on data engineering tasks to meet business demands, refining technical features as required.
• Participate in code reviews, ensuring high-quality code and adherence to coding best practices.
• Implement and enforce best practices for data ingestion, transformation, and processing across the team.
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to prepare data for advanced analytics, machine learning and reporting.
• Automate data processes and workflows to reduce manual interventions and improve efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues within the data pipelines, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
• Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative team environment.

What you'll bring:
• Previous experience as a Data Engineer, working with large-scale data infrastructures.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL, with a deep understanding of their application in data engineering.
• Applied experience with Databricks, demonstrating strong knowledge of managing data pipelines and transformations.
• Experience with Azure stack, including Azure data factory V2, Blob/ADLS, Snowflake, Azure analysis services and Cosmos DB.
• Familiar working with structured, semi-structured and unstructured data across various storage solutions.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automating testing, integration and deployment of data solutions.
• Strong understanding of information security and data governance principles, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers, lead small scale projects and conduct thorough code reviews.
• Skilled in explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
