Job summary

DWP Digital’s Synergy Shared Services Hub is delivering a major Civil Service transformation. As a Data Engineer, you’ll design, build and maintain reporting products, data pipelines and datasets used by hundreds of thousands of colleagues across government. The role offers a hybrid working pattern and a competitive salary, with a generous civil service pension and holidays. You’ll work with Oracle Fusion tools and cloud technologies to deliver trusted insights across departments.

Qualifications

  • Experience testing and validating data pipelines to ensure data accuracy, quality and reliability.
  • Understanding of data modelling principles and industry best practices.
  • Experience developing BI/MI solutions with dashboards and self-service analytics using Power BI or similar tools.
  • Ability to gather, interpret and communicate business requirements with stakeholders.
  • Experience using data mining and code analysis to assure data quality.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Fusion reporting tools (FDI/AIDP and OTBI) or equivalent enterprise reporting platforms.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

You and your role

As a Data Engineer in the Synergy Shared Services Hub, you'll help deliver one of the most significant transformations to Civil Service shared services in decades.

You'll play a key role in developing and supporting reporting and analytics solutions that provide trusted insights to almost a quarter of a million users across multiple government departments.

Working with Oracle Fusion Data Intelligence (FDI/AIDP), Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI) and other modern cloud technologies, you'll design, build and maintain reporting products, data pipelines, datasets and integrations that deliver trusted management information and actionable insights.

You'll collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs, translate requirements into effective reporting solutions and support the delivery of scalable, reusable products. You'll also contribute across the full reporting development lifecycle, including design, testing, deployment, maintenance and continuous improvement.

Using your problem-solving skills and attention to detail, you'll help ensure data quality, reliability and performance, while applying engineering standards and testing practices throughout the development process.

As part of a supportive and inclusive team, you'll work alongside reporting and data professionals, share knowledge, embrace new technologies and help drive improvements that enhance services for colleagues and customers across government.

Hybrid Working:

We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home (40%) and some time collaborating face to face in a hub (60%).

Pay:

We offer competitive pay for this role of up to £54,813.

Pension:

You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions of 28.97%, worth over £12,876 per year.

Holidays:

A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time.

You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time. You'll also get all the usual public holidays.
