Location: Head Office, Nottingham (Hybrid working, minimum 2 days per week)

At Nottingham Building Society our talent acquisition approach is rooted in openness and inclusive hiring, so even if you don’t feel you tick every box, we’d still genuinely love to hear from you.

We are investing in the future of data, creating a brand-new enterprise Data Platform on Microsoft Fabric and Azure that will transform how we use data across the organisation. As a Data Engineer, you'll be at the heart of this initiative, helping to build the platform, frameworks and capabilities that will support everything from business insight and regulatory reporting to advanced analytics and AI. This is a rare opportunity to influence the design and direction of a modern data ecosystem from day one.

Joining a collaborative and forward-thinking team, you'll combine technical expertise with innovation to deliver scalable, secure and high-performing data solutions. You'll work closely with colleagues across the business, helping to unlock the value of data and drive better outcomes for our members. If you're passionate about modern data engineering and want to play a key role in shaping something new, we'd love to hear from you.

Here’s a taste of what you will be doing as a Data Engineer at Nottingham Building Society:

  • Champion DataOps & DevOps - Develop automated deployment pipelines, CI/CD processes and engineering standards using Azure DevOps and Git-based development practices.
  • Drive Data Quality & Governance - Implement controls, monitoring, lineage and governance frameworks that ensure data remains reliable, secure and compliant.
  • Monitor & Optimise Performance - Continuously improve platform performance, observability and operational resilience through proactive monitoring and alerting.
  • Collaborate Across The Business - Work closely with Data Architects, Analysts and business stakeholders to deliver solutions that create meaningful value for members and colleagues.
About You:
  • Microsoft Fabric Expertise - You have strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric technologies including OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory, Spark and Power BI.

  • Modern Data Platform Experience - You've successfully built, enhanced or operated cloud-based data platforms, ideally within Azure environments.
  • Data Architecture Knowledge - You understand data modelling, ELT/ETL design, Delta Lake principles, data quality frameworks and modern engineering best practices.
  • Cloud & DevOps Capability - You have experience with Azure services, automation, CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code approaches.
