Job description

Data Engineer - Business Insights Team

Location: Salford Quays Manchester | Company: PXC (Part of the TalkTalk Group)

About Us

PlatformX Communications (PXC) is the UK's leading value for money connectivity provider. We believe that simple, affordable, reliable, and fair connectivity should be available to everyone, and we reward our team for being part of that mission of change. We're looking for a passionate Data Engineer to help shape the future of our data landscape.

About the Team

The Strategy, Insights & Performance department exists as a force multiplier in PXC.

The department's Insights function is made of multi-disciplinary Hubs which are aligned to specific business domains. As the centre for PXC's data engineering, reporting and analytics, the Hubs work to make insights the engine of business success. They partner with senior leaders (up to the Executive Leadership Team), expert analysts (Analyst Community) and Data Authority (Quality, Governance, Architecture, etc.) to deliver value.

The role sits within a Hub, reporting to the Lead Data Engineer.

About the Role

As a Data Engineer, you will be fundamental to the success of the Insights Hub, managing pipelines that transform, collate and organise data into a data model that enables value to be derived from it.

Your primary responsibility will be to build, maintain and enhance ETL/ELT processes that deliver key financial reporting, leveraging tools such as Microsoft Fabric Pipelines, Python Notebooks, and Dataflows.

You'll also contribute to two additional data engineering functions covering our Core Data Platform and another key Data Application building team.

These teams are currently transitioning from Microsoft Azure to Microsoft Fabric, with a plan to unify all data functions under a modern architecture using Snowflake, Airflow, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and DBT. This presents a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a variety of cutting-edge data engineering tools and methodologies.

To be successful, you will bring curiosity, accountability and enthusiasm to your day-to-day role, with strong communication and task management. A passion for data is essential.

Why Join PXC?

  • PXC will provide exceptional opportunities for your personal growth with so much technology to master
