About The Role

Pearson are hiring a Digital Workplace Data Engineer to join their colleague workplace services team (DWS).

We are looking for a data developer focused on creating and maintaining Power BI dashboards as well as Azure Data Factory orchestration. We are on a journey of continuous colleague IT service and security improvement using data as our 'source of truth'.

Our successful candidate will have a high proficiency in Microsoft PowerBI and associated technologies as well as the data analytics skills necessary to design, lead, implement, and drive our transformation to a modern, colleague-oriented digital workplace.

You will work within a global team of productivity, security, identity, and endpoint peers to drive forward our colleague IT solutions, keeping colleague experience at the heart of everything we do.

You will be required to design and build PowerBI dashboards in support of colleague initiatives (projects), colleague service improvement, and security. Consuming data from disparate sources and pivoting that data to explain our current baselines and enable us to track our improvements.

The role will require you to work, educate, and influence a range of IT stakeholders, understand their data requirements, then engineer data dashboards. You will provide technical direction and be seen as a 'go-to' expert for data and dashboards within the colleague technology community.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Work with IT stakeholders to understand their data and dashboard requirements.
  2. Deliver, iterate and maintain those dashboards using PowerBI, Azure Data Factory, and DevOPS.
  3. Connect to and amalgamate data from known 'sources of truth' using Azure Data Factory.
  4. Use data to guide Engineering designs. Use data to baseline projects and showcase the benefits of the engineering improvements.
  5. Provide guidance and expertise to project roadmaps.
  6. Responsibility for maintaining cost management of the Azure Resources related to Data.
  7. Work collaboratively with stakeholders to plan the future of Pearson's Digital Workplace.
  8. Assist in managing project deliverables to meet their objectives against quality (including security), budget control, and time management.
  9. Design and innovate processes, standardization, and progressive governance practices.
  10. Identify areas of improvement within the IT landscape, engineering solutions and guiding the execution of those designs through successful implementation.
  11. Drive innovation and security through implementing and enhancing automated deployment approaches.
  12. Practice continuous learning through attending company and/or industry training.
  13. Some UK and international travel may be required (infrequently).

Skills and Abilities:

  1. Expert in Microsoft PowerBI and Azure Data Factory.
  2. Strong in MS SQL, Graph and Fabric, KQL.
  3. Azure OpenAI, Automation accounts, Integration runtimes.
  4. Strong in Azure DevOps.
  5. Good knowledge and proven experience of consuming and analyzing data from Microsoft Azure, M365 Collaboration and Productivity, Office 365, and Endpoint security solutions (E5).
  6. Good knowledge and proven experience of consuming and analyzing data from other colleague workplace solutions such as JAMF, ServiceNow, and colleague HR solutions.
  7. Good knowledge/experience of Azure Active Directory and modern auth.
  8. Good experience of working with modern coding and scripting skills e.g. PowerShell or Python.
  9. It is desirable to have experience with Jira and Confluence.
