Role Overview

We are currently looking for a Data Engineer to join a leading Biotechnology company based in the Glasgow area. As the Data Engineer you will act as the subject matter expert for data engineering, helping to set the standards for data engineering and analytics best-practice for the business.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Help lay the foundations of the new data platform as a hands-on practitioner, building on rich datasets in the business for both automation and analytics.

2. Design and develop data processing pipelines to support ingestion, enrichment and quality control of client and partner data.

3. Help design and develop a data warehouse to power reporting and analytics as well as identifying, designing and implementing internal process improvements.

4. Coach, mentor and up-skill team members in hands-on data engineering to build their technical skills and knowledge of the platform.

Role Requirements

1. Proven hands-on experience working with modern data engineering technologies, techniques and architectures to implement and maintain modern, robust and performant data pipelines.

2. Proven hands-on experience delivering and maintaining enterprise-grade data pipelines utilising technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Pentaho Data Integrator, Apache Hop, etc.

3. Demonstrable understanding of modern ETL/ELT practices, frameworks, tooling and execution environments.
