A leading tech consultancy in Birmingham is seeking a Data Engineer for a 6-month engagement focused on developing a PEP (Politically Exposed Persons) service. The project involves implementing data quality controls on AWS and using technologies such as Scala, Snowflake, and PostgresSQL. Candidates should have strong skills in handling data quality and collaboration with stakeholders. This role is office-based 2 days a week.

Qualifications

  • Experience in developing automated systems focused on data quality.

Data Engineer

Location: UK: 2 days a week in the Birmingham office

Duration: 6-month engagement

Project Overview: PEP as a service (Data Quality, Data Control Framework implementation)

Primary Responsibilities

This project sits within our client's Financial Crime area. The key focus is on a brand-new project called PEP as a service. A PEP solution refers to a system or process for handling Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) in the context of anti-money laundering (AML) and financial crime compliance.

The intention is to build out an automated system which individuals can complete, removing the need for manual operations to vet individuals.

The existing technology stack is moving from Oracle database to Postgres SQL database; the team need extra support to help fulfil the following.

  • Wiring and implementing the data quality control on AWS
  • Develop and implement framework (Data quality rules)
  • Work with stakeholders within the team
  • Support other projects when and where possible
Essential Skills:
  • Proficiency within Scala
  • Proficiency within AWS
  • Proficiency within AWS DeeQu
  • Proficiency within Snowflake
  • Proficiency within PostGresSQL
  • Oracle Database experience (Desirable)
