As a Data Control Scientist, you’ll be an integral part of the data team within our wider laboratory structure. You will support the Sample Programme Manager in auditing the programs, ensuring that our laboratory, potable, and waste sampling meet the highest standards of accreditation (ISO17025, DWTS, MCERTS).

Responsibilities
  • Playing a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with the Industrial Emissions Directive.
  • Managing data flow processes and guiding the direction for both the laboratory and sampling teams.
  • Developing new laboratory processes and creating innovative data integration tools.
  • Playing a leading role in the rollout of a new sample manager and IT infrastructure, acting as a subject matter expert for these systems, and providing training for other team members.

This role is based in Reading (RG2 6AD) on a hybrid basis (2-3 days per week in the office).

What you should bring to the Data Control Scientist
  • A scientific background, ideally in chemistry or microbiology, would be advantageous.
  • Good experience handling and manipulating large datasets.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and internal teams.
  • Experience in delivering and managing multiple projects simultaneously, as this role will be working across two teams every week.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office applications.
